Sam Talmadge is a guitarist and composer/arranger based in Brooklyn, NY
Sam's instrumental acoustic guitar work synthesizes the fingerpicking techniques of John Fahey and Elizabeth Cotten with the sounds of various other musical styles including ragtime, Irish fiddle music, western classical, and many other folk traditions. Having grown up in rural New Hampshire, Sam has lived in Boston, Burlington VT, and now in Brooklyn, fusing the musical influences that he’s picked up along the way into a style that is intricate, patient, and new.
Sam’s latest release, Solo Guitar vol. 1 showcases original music as well as fingerpicking and ragtime standards.
In addition to performing solo in the North-East, Sam is also a co-founder of the Boston based folk-quartet Ruthless Moon and has played electric guitar with bands such as The Ladles, DOGART and the new country quintet in Brooklyn Lissy and the Jacks.
Sam teaches private guitar lessons to people of all ages in NYC as well as online.
